Lenovo releases Superfish automatic removal tool. Lenovo has been caught in a bit of a sticky situation this week after it was discovered that they have been pre-installing adware on many of its computing products. After trying to downplay the severity of the situation, Lenovo has released an automatic tool that will remove the offending piece of software.
The adware, dubbed ‘Superfish’, was initially just thought to inject ads into the users browsing experience. But, it was also discovered that the adware actually installs its own security certificate, weakening the integrity of the browsing experience. Furthermore, the Superfish security certificate was cracked fairly quickly, leading to the potential for further damage in the future.
While Lenovo released instructions on how to manually remove the adware application and the security certificate on various browsers, this was still not an easy solution for many users. Fortunately, Lenovo has finally released an automatic removal tool that will take care of the above mentioned issues automatically.
If you are currently a Lenovo user, it is highly recommended to make sure that your device is not infected and if it is, make sure to download the removal tool from the Lenovo source link below.
